Our Farm Eggs

There is nothing quite like farm fresh eggs.  We have always had chickens but with the interest in free-range eggs from our neighbors  and CSA members we decided to increase our flock in 2010.  Since then our flock has grown and the hens are taking over.  No not really but somedays it does feel like it.   We've selected various breeds of chickens that are good layers that would give us a colorful variety of eggs and they do lay some beautiful eggs!

 "Mother Earth News"  research shows that eggs from hens raised on pasture have;

1/3 less cholesterol
1/4 less saturated fat
2/3 more vitamin A
2 X more omega-3 fatty acids
3 times  more vitamin E
7 times more beta carotene
4 to 6 times more vitamin D
